Background

Move it or Lose it specialises in exercise for the over 60s. Founded in 2010 by expert instructor Julie Robinson, the company has grown nationally reaching ~8000 older people every week, heling them to live healthier, happier and more active lives.

The company launched the FABS Training Programme in 2016 as a novel and unique exercise programme for older adults. Developed with experts from the Centre for Healthy Ageing Research at University of Birmingham, FABS includes flexibility, aerobic, balance and strength exercises that are safe, fun and effective. It involves a blended approach of eLearning and practical assessment to train existing fitness professionals or newbies to become certified exercise instructors to work with older adults.

Instructors also have the option to become a licenced FABS instructor by joining The Exercise Network (TEN) where they benefit from support, materials and resources. TEN instructors then deliver FABS classes in their local community, or in care homes or NHS settings.

Job Description

Move it or Lose it are looking for an organised and diligent Business Manager to join a small but vibrant and hard-working team at the Head Office based near Birmingham City Centre at Aston Science Park. They would be responsible for managing the journey of all learners on the FABS Training Programme from enrolling onto the eLearning programme to signing off as complete. This would be a customer facing role, liaising with and supporting learners as well as the Train the Trainers who deliver the practical elements of the course. This would require a high degree of competency in IT, customer relations and systems processing.

The role would also see the successful candidate managing TEN as valued members of the Move it or Lose it family. This would involve email and telephone support and building resources and materials where necessary to aid their knowledge and delivery, e.g. newsletters.

Main Responsibilities

  • Enrolling learners onto the eLearning programme.
  • Support learners through the eLearning programme via email.
  • Log learners on each practical course date keeping organised records.
  • Receive coursework and distribute to Train the Trainers.
  • Sourcing and booking venues to run practical training.
  • Liaising with Train the Trainers.
  • Understanding of GDPR.
  • Support The Exercise Network members.
  • Other tasks as seen fit by the company’s directors.

Person specification

The successful candidate will be interested in working for a company with a social mission and helping improve the lives of older adults. The will be friendly and personable, with good attention to detail for administrative tasks and the ability to adapt to situations that arise in a small company, working to tight deadlines. Experience of using Google Drive, WordPress and Adobe programmes would be desirable.

The successful candidate will benefit from working at the Innovation Birmingham Campus, the region’s largest digital campus, 15 minutes’ walk from Birmingham City Centre. Internal training will be given to the successful candidate on the current systems and process used.
